What this service is

Stay Home Safe is an informational planning tool. It turns your answers into a written scope of work and reviews contractor bids against it, so you can have a better-informed conversation with the people doing the work.

What it is not

It is not medical advice. We do not diagnose anything. For medical needs — mobility, cognition, continence, recovery — talk to an occupational therapist or physician, who can assess the person in the actual home.

It is not legal or contracting advice, and we are not a licensed contractor, architect or engineer. Our scope of work is a starting point for a professional to price and adapt, not a construction document. Permit requirements and building codes vary; your contractor and your local building department decide what applies.

Our bid analysis is information to discuss with your contractor — never an instruction to refuse work or an accusation against anyone. We do not verify contractor licensing or insurance. Verify both with your state licensing board before you hire anyone.

We do not currently tell you what work should cost. Our rule is that every price benchmark must trace to a dated, published source, and our regional cost data has not finished that verification. Until it does, we say what's missing and what to ask, and we say plainly that we can't price it.

Your decisions are yours

You decide what work to do and who does it. We are not liable for the work a contractor performs, for a contractor's conduct, or for outcomes in your home. Nothing here guarantees that any change will prevent a fall or an injury.

Refunds

If the report isn't useful to you, email us within 30 days and we'll refund it. You don't have to explain why.

If we fail to deliver what you paid for — a report that never arrives, a bid review that errors out and can't be recovered — we refund it automatically, without you having to ask. Refunds return to the original payment method and typically take 5–10 business days to appear, which is Stripe's timeline, not ours.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. Every purchase is a one-time charge for a specific plan — there is no subscription and nothing recurring. We never see or store your card details.

Your data

See our privacy policy. You can delete everything we hold about you at any time, yourself, without asking us.

Acceptable use

Please don't upload bids or documents that aren't yours to share, and don't use the service to harass a contractor. We may decline service to anyone doing either.

Changes

If these terms change, the change applies to purchases made after it. It never applies retroactively to something you already bought.
